What a year this has been! One year ago, Christian Healthcare Centers was a logo, a tax-exempt letter from the IRS, a business plan and a band of Christian brothers and sisters who believed they could make a difference in healthcare. Today, we are a thriving, growing Christian medical ministry providing high-quality healthcare to hundreds of people like you.
On behalf of our staff and Board of Directors, I want to thank you for joining with us on this pioneering venture to change the face of healthcare. By God’s grace, we have been given the assignment to create a distinctively Christian healthcare system, but we could not do it without your participation and prayers.
Here are some of the highlights of the last year:
· November 2016 – Launched a $1.8 million capital campaign to secure a facility, medical equipment, furnishings, clinical supplies, etc.
· January 2017 – Signed the lease on 9,100 sq. ft. of medical office space in Plainfield Township.
· March 2017 – Enrollment for MemberCare begins and the first family enrolls (who live 65 miles away from our Center)
· May 2017 – Took possession of renovated space at 3322 Beltline Court NE.
· June 2017 – Moved in $439,000 worth of medical equipment, IT equipment and furnishings provided by donors and partners who are as passionate about CHC as we are.
· June 2017 – Held the first ever CHC staff gathering of physicians, nurses, support and administrative staff for team building and orientation.
· June 28, 2017 – CHC Open House with over 300 people attending. Live remote provided by WJQ99.3 radio, with television news coverage provided by Fox17 and WZZMTV13.
· July 5, 2017 – The doors officially open for the first Christian non-profit Direct Primary Care center in the United States and we see our first patient.
· July-October 2017 – CHC grows to 620 members
· November 2017 – CHC Surgical is launched with the addition of Dr. Ted VanderKooi, M. D., general surgery.
· December 2017 – God has provided nearly $1 million of the original $1.8 million needed to launch CHC and open the doors. Although we are still trusting God to provide, we rejoice in all that He has done.
As you can imagine, getting here meant long days, lots of sacrifice and innumerable prayers. God is good! We are now poised to serve the Body of Christ and the community in ways we only imagined a year ago. We are excited to see what will happen in 2018 as we grow and serve. Thank you for being part of this journey.
